About the role
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join
Airbnb is powered by our Host and Guest communities. Our teams work on everything from driving improvements for the end-to-end Host and Guest experience to launching new product verticals from the ground up. Our job is to build world-class, comprehensive platforms and features to create high-quality experiences for our outstanding community of Hosts and Guests.
Supply & Competitive Intelligence sits at the intersection of Data/AI and Airbnb’s competitive strategy. As part of this team, you will build systems that give Airbnb a real-time, comprehensive view of the global travel market — how competitors price, list, and supply their inventory across every market we operate in. Your work will feed ML models and data products that directly inform pricing strategy, supply growth, and product decisions for hundreds of millions of guests and hosts around the world.
The Difference You Will Make
The Supply & Competitive Intelligence team builds the data and ML systems that show Airbnb where supply is, how competitors operate, and which supply to pursue. We are looking for a data-focused Staff Backend Engineer to help build the next generation of these systems. You will set technology and implementation strategy and work with a wide range of cross-functional partners.
